For me at least my screen still turns off but I still get graphics in through Anydesk so it has full functionality again. For some it might cause your laptop screen to stay fully on when you close the lid which would still work for a remote desktop but might be more wasteful than you want. Now you'll need to check how well it works for your laptop. If you don’t have an external monitor, make sure to check out our list of the best computer monitors for 2020. Finally, close your MacBook lid to see if it’s still on. Connect your MacBook to a power source, an external keyboard, a mouse, and an external monitor.

In "Manufacturer" select "(Standard system devices)", or in Windows 8, choose Microsoft as the manufacturer - different place, but the hack still works (at least in the 64bit Release Preview) Set the Turn display off after slider to Never. Open "ACPI lid" properties, and go to the "Driver" tab.Ĭhoose "Browse my computer for driver software" and "Let me pick." Open Device Manager (search it in the Start menu). The only way I've found to resolve this so that it works the way I want it to is to intentionally break the ACPI Lid driver: Basically with a laptop what often happens is when your lid is closed and the monitor is off, your computer stops registering the display driver completely so no picture is being sent through Anydesk for you to see.
